R. v. J.A.
J.A. bought used vehicles to ship overseas. Police believed one of the vehicles had been stolen and charged him with possession of stolen property. Although the Court found that J.A. should have done more to make sure the vehicle was legitimate before buying it, Celine successfully argued that he should not receive a criminal conviction. J.A. was granted a conditional discharge, meaning he did not receive a criminal record.
