Presumption of innocence critical in sexual assault claims

The #MeToo movement has seen many high-profile people fall from positions of power, with some facing criminal charges.
“More of these cases are making their way to court as victims feel emboldened to step forward, but we have to remember, like any charge, a person is presumed innocent until proven guilty,” says Dostaler, the founder of Céline Dostaler Professional Corporation. Police are also laying more sexual assault and harassment charges and there is an effort to get these cases to court, she says.
